ABOUT ME

My name is Sarah Ashley Striga, I have recently been crowned Miss Teen Southern Alberta-World at the Miss Teen Alberta-World Pageant. This pageant has been such an exhilarating experience for me as it has taught me how not only to love myself, but to love others around me as well. I remember the day my life changed very well, it sticks out in my many memories as one of the happiest, most proud moments in my life. Standing in my seven inch heels on the stage at the Telus Convention center, waiting anxiously to hear Miss Jessica Tsang (Whom I knew through previous modeling shows) announce my name, I knew that these next few minutes could alter my life drastically. My heart was racing and my feet were hurting, but I was so caught up in the moment, I didn't notice any of the pain. Miss Tsang announced that it was the top three contestants left to be crowned. I silently prayed to god that my name would be called, and god answered my prayers. As I took my first walk across the stage as Miss Teen Southern Alberta-World, I felt a wave of relief and happiness wash over me. I had finally defeated the plague of bullying that I had faced throughout all my years of schooling, I felt strong and proud. Empowered you could say. So I vowed to myself silently while Katie Starke (Miss Teen Canada-World) crowned me, that I would tell children and teens everywhere that everyone has a talent and the more you throw yourself into that talent, the more success you will have which leads to overall self confidence.

THE QUOTE I LIVE BY

"No-one is good at everything, but everyone is good at something." This is a quote that I live by. It makes me feel confident about myself, and feel not afraid to try new things, to throw myself into new hobbies and activities headfirst without a second thought. It makes me feel proud of myself to the point where I don't care what my peers think about me as much, and I am not afraid to fail. After all, no-one is perfect. everyone has flaws and things they need to work on. But every single person on the earth is talented at something, or gifted in some way, which is why my platform in the 2009 Miss Teen Canada-World pageant is to help children uncover their secret talents and abilities.
